Why a Marmot? Why Switzerland? Why Me?

I’m an Aussie who moved to Switzerland, fell for the place hard, and eventually became Swiss.
And somewhere along the way, I decided to build something from scratch—a brand with roots in this country, but a story that could travel anywhere.
It started with a simple idea: Could I take a small, overlooked alpine animal—a marmot—and turn it into something meaningful? Not just a children’s character. Not just a cute mascot.
But a brand. A message. A mindset. That’s how Marco the Marmot was born.
Marco’s not perfect. He’s unsure of himself. He second-guesses, struggles, and keeps climbing anyway. He’s not the loudest or the fastest—but he doesn’t quit.
He’s a mirror for anyone who’s trying to find their place in the world.
I didn’t come from publishing. I wasn’t a brand strategist or a storyteller by trade. I just had a clear vision, a ridiculous amount of grit, and the stubborn belief that I could bring this character—and everything he stands for—to life.
Switzerland gave me a second home.
Marco is my way of giving something back. A story that’s quiet but strong. Rooted in the Alps. Built to last.
And yeah—I hope the Swiss love it.
