A Day of Unity, Smiles, and Stories with Marco the Marmot
Every year on April 23rd, children across the world gather to celebrate a holiday that began in Türkiye — National Sovereignty and Children’s Day (23 Nisan). It’s a day dedicated to joy, peace, and the belief that children are the heart of our future.

This year, in the beautiful lakeside city of Lausanne, Switzerland, the local Turkish community brought this tradition to life with music, color, and heartfelt emotion. And guess who was invited to join the celebration? 🐾
That’s right — Marco the Marmot!
Arrival in Lausanne
As soon as Marco entered the venue, he was greeted by a sea of waving Turkish and Swiss flags, cheerful children, and proud families. Excited little ones rushed to greet him with hugs and high-fives. The room sparkled with anticipation, and Marco couldn’t help but beam with joy.

Stories, Culture, and a Surprise Hug
The event began with children taking the stage — reciting poems, singing national songs, and proudly waving their flags. Turkish and Swiss cultures stood side by side, celebrated with pride and harmony.
When it was Marco’s turn to step on stage, the crowd roared with excitement. Holding a flag in each paw, Marco waved happily before sharing stories about his beloved Lausanne: the steep hills, the Olympic Museum, the lakeboats — and of course, the chocolate!
Suddenly, a young child quietly stepped forward… and hugged Marco. The room fell silent for a moment — then melted into applause. One by one, more children joined, flooding the stage with laughter, hugs, and joyful cheers.

Dancing into the Day
Then came the music — rhythmic, joyful, unmistakably Turkish. The children joined hands, Marco included, and together they danced across the stage. Swiss energy met Turkish tradition in the most heartwarming of ways. Parents clapped, cameras flashed, and the whole venue came alive.

A Day to Remember
Before the day ended, everyone gathered for a group photo — Marco right in the middle, surrounded by smiling children, flags waving proudly.
It wasn’t just a celebration. It was a reminder of what brings us together: kindness, curiosity, and the boundless spirit of childhood.
Thank You, Lausanne 🇹🇷❤️🇨🇭
Marco would like to send a big merci to the entire Turkish community of Lausanne for their warm welcome and unforgettable celebration. And most of all, thank you to the children — for making this day so magical.
